What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a modern alternative to traditional braces. It consists of clear aligners that help adjust teeth alignment or malocclusion.

Is Invisalign more comfortable than traditional braces?

In comparison to traditional braces, Invisalign is more comfortable, easy to wear, maintain, and clean. It offers a discreet solution for alignment correction.

Is Invisalign faster than braces?

Invisalign can provide results in a shorter time frame compared to traditional braces, typically within a few months. It offers a comfortable design, making it easy to wear during the day or night. The aligners are soft and clear, ensuring a comfortable experience throughout the treatment process.

What is the process involved in Invisalign treatment?

The process begins with taking accurate digital impressions using digital scanners, followed by obtaining radiography and submitting the case to a software for analysis. The aligners are then custom-made, usually within a few days. Appointments are scheduled for the placement of attachments and delivery of Invisalign aligners.

How long does Invisalign treatment typically take?

The duration of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the severity of the malocclusion. It can range from as few as 7 to 8 aligners for mild cases to 24 to 25 aligners for more complex cases. Consistent wear, for a minimum of 22 hours per day, is crucial for optimal results.

Who is eligible for Invisalign?

Invisalign is suitable for addressing various malocclusions, including crossbites and open bites.

Is Invisalign painful or uncomfortable?

No, Invisalign is not typically painful. It involves slight movements each day, making it easy to wear during daily activities and sleep. The process is generally comfortable for most patients.

Does insurance cover the treatment?

While some insurance policies may cover a portion of the treatment cost, coverage varies depending on the insurance provider and the nature of the treatment. It's advisable to check with the insurance company for specific coverage details.

How can individuals schedule appointments for Invisalign consultations?

Individuals interested in Invisalign treatment can contact Burke Dental at (703) 940-9410 to schedule an appointment. During the consultation, they can address any additional questions or concerns they may have regarding the treatment.

All About Invisalign

Braces are something that are often associated with adolescence. When most people hear the word braces they picture the gawky teenager with the awkward smile and the metal braces. However, crooked and imperfect alignment of teeth are not problems that are limited to teenagers.

There are many adults who could benefit from having their teeth straightened, maybe because they were not able to get braces as a teenager or because their teeth shifted as they got older. Most adults shy away from the idea of braces.

However, Invisalign is an alternative to braces that fixes the imperfections without the associated pain and awkwardness.

How We Can Help You

Burke Dentalis happy to serve the Burke, Virginia area, and make sure patients get the best dental care around. Dr. Ghanavati is an accredited dentist who believes in patient satisfaction and making sure that our patients are comfortable with the care that they are receiving. You Will Love Invisalign! Here’s Why:

Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces, meant specifically for adult patients. Invisalign is a custom-fit dental aligner that realigns teeth, creating a perfect smile and correcting minor dental issues. Invisalign is a lot less intrusive than traditional braces, which makes Invisalign a good choice for adults, particularly adults who only need a minor amount of straightening. Invisalign is also made of clear plastic, which makes them stand out less than traditional braces. There are a lot of reasons to consider Invisalign, such as:

  • Invisalign can give you straight, beautiful teeth. Many people with crooked teeth or misaligned teeth admit to feeling self-conscious. Invisalign can help with that by straightening your teeth.
  • Invisalign can improve your oral health. In addition to the cosmetic benefits of teeth straightening, there are health benefits as well. Invisalign can improve your bite and help make your teeth easier to care for.
  • Invisalign is more comfortable than traditional traces. Because Invisalign aligners are made out of clear plastic and not metal, Invisalign does not have the same level of discomfort that is often associated with traditional braces.
  • Invisalign aligners are made out of clear plastic which makes them hard to detect. Invisalign aligners blend against your teeth, unlike traditional braces which are hard to hide. This allows the wearer to feel less self-conscious about wearing them, whereas many adult patients may be wary about traditional braces because of the appearance.
  • Invisalign aligners are removable. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners can be removed to eat or for oral care. While t is recommended that the aligners be worn for 22 hours a day, being able to remove it even temporarily gives the patient more freedom and options than traditional braces.
  • Invisalign is a pain-free procedure. With Invisalign, the patient is fitted for the aligners and then will be shown how to wear them. Because Invisalign aligners are removable, there is no need for wires or tightening.

Invisalign is a good alternative to traditional braces, particularly for adults. Most adults may not want the potential embarrassment and discomfort of wearing braces, but many would probably still like straighter teeth and that is the number one advantage of Invisalign. Invisalign gives patients straighter teeth, while being less visible and intrusive than traditional braces.

Things to Know About Getting Invisalign

As with any major dental procedure, the first step is to book a consultation. Dr. Ghanavati and his team will be happy to sit down with you and discuss whether Invisalign is the right option. This will include an examination to see if you are a good candidate. Dr. Ghanavati is happy to consult with patients in the Burke, Virginia area and see if Invisalign can help them get straighter teeth.

Discovering if Invisalign is Right For You

Before recommending Invisalign, Dr. Ghanavati will assess several factors. The first is to access the problem areas because Invisalign is not designed to fix severe dental issues. In the case of severe issues, traditional braces will likely be recommended. However, Invisalign is great for minor and medium dental issues such as crowded teeth, uneven teeth, or gapped teeth.

Another factor is age. Invisalign is designed for adults because their jaws are fully formed and their adult teeth have finished growing. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign may not be ideal for all children or adolescents. A consultation with Dr. Ghanavati is recommended to determine if Invisalign is appropriate for a particular patient.

The Process

Once Dr. Ghanavati has assessed whether a patient is a good candidate for Invisalign, the next step is to book another appointment and be measured for your custom device. This process involves x-rays, photographs, and impressions which will be used to create a digital model of the patient’s mouth and to develop a custom Invisalign treatment plan designed specifically for each individual patient.

Once the custom treatment plan has been made, our office will call and schedule another appointment. At this appointment, the patient will be shown the plan and the anticipated results in an animated video developed from a digital model of the individual patient’s teeth. After accepting the proposed treatment and authorizing Dr. Ghanavati to fabricate the aligners, the patient will make another appointment during which Dr. Ghanavati will show the patient how to put the aligners in and how to remove them. Each Invisalign aligner should be worn for the time specified by Dr. Ghanavati and then will need to be replaced with the next aligner in the sequence.

At the initial appointment, the patient will be given an estimate of how long the Invisalign will take to start working. Once that period of time has passed, the patient will come in for another appointment and Dr. Ghanavati will access their progress and see if it is time to stop wearing the current aligner and move on to the next.

Recovery

Unlike other dental procedures, there is no real recovery process for receiving Invisalign treatment because the whole thing is very simple. There is no tightening, no need for painkillers. Instead, it is just some x-rays, photographs, and measurements and then the team at Burke Dental showing the patient how to place and remove their new aligners. There may be some awkwardness as the patient gets used to the feel of wearing the aligner, but even that will pass quickly and there will be no pain.

Getting started with Invisalign treatment may involve a few trips to the dentist’s office, but it is a simple, pain-free procedure. The hardest part will be learning to adjust to the aligner, but even that is easier than traditional braces and most patients will adjust quickly.

Why Patients Choose Invisalign

For adults with imperfect alignment of teeth, Invisalign can be a great alternative to traditional braces. The installation process is much easier than that of traditional braces and there is no pain, just perhaps some awkwardness at first. Many people are hesitant to get braces because they associate them with adolescence or because they fear the pain and the unattractive appearance, but Invisalign doesn’t have any of those drawbacks.

Invisalign is not nearly as intrusive as traditional braces, both because of the clear appearance, making it hard to tell that they are even there, and the fact that they can be removed. Invisalign will have minimal impact on a patient’s day-to-day life, once they get used to the feeling of the aligner, and the benefits will be long-lasting and will result in a beautiful smile.
